California Peppers

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

California peppers are a great addition to any salad or meal. When you’re in the store there are a few tips to help you when picking the perfect pepper. Be sure to stay away from peppers that are bruised, look for smooth firm flesh that has rich color and no shriveled or soft spots. Avoid peppers with a hefty feel…this usually means they are full or seeds and contain too much water. Always buy peppers with a green stem to ensure quality and freshness. Be sure to pick up some red or green peppers the next time you are in our produce department!

Fresh From Florida

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Most of our produce comes from Florida. Due to heavy rain the crops have been flooded causing a shortage on things like peppers, tomatoes, squash and corn. Florida usually has a heavy harvest around this time of year but that all depends on the rain. If it rains a lot that usually slows down the harvest but not us. Rest assured we still have plenty of produce to go around. Prices may vary depending on the availability of the crops but our prices are always low and affordable.
